With more than 270 million inhabitants, Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world. There are more than 17,000 islands in it, with Bali being one of the most well-known. In the 1970s, the Balinese economy was mainly based on agriculture; however, now it chiefly depends on tourism. The shift from agriculture to tourism has greatly benefited Bali. Since then, it has become one of Indonesia’s wealthiest regions and most popular travel spots, with tourism serving as the primary source of income. The development of tourism has also improved education and healthcare for many Balinese people.
